God Showed Up!
Our Transfiguration Sunday scripture readings are filed with mountains. The Hebrew text (Exodus 24:23-28) speaks of a “mountain”; our Psalm (Ps. 2) speaks of a “holy hill”; the Epistle (2 Peter 1:16-21) refers to a “holy mountain” and our Gospel (Matthew 17:1-9) “a high mountain.” When we think of mountains in God’s salvation history we think of one mountain in particular, Sinai. It is on Sinai that Moses received from God the Ten Commandments. God showed up.
What mountain place or experience in our lives has God shown up?
