When was the last time we were tempted to ask, “Is the Lord among us or not?” It is one thing to ask the question if the Lord has not shown up before, but if the Lord has shown up in our lives (exit out of Egypt, parting the sea, bread from heaven, etc.), to ask this question says more about us than it does about God. The gifts of God can contribute to us putting them before the One who gave them to us. God save us from that! God is among us. What’s the challenge? Sometimes the challenge is allowing our physical needs to take priority. If God is aware of what we need—and God is–God will provide. When? In God’s time. Where? Where God chooses. How? In God’s way. The challenge is trusting that God will show up. God has shown up before. God will show up again. It may not be in the same way as before, but God will show up. Practicing unbelief or grumbling will not make God hurry up. But trusting God will help us hang on without getting hung up!
